Working in various positions in finance from desk clerk to finance director for nearly 2 decades I've come across a wide variety of accounting packages, I've seen many implementations and worked with many packages. I can say that with a massive distance Mamut is by far the worst accounting program I've ever worked with and it is not even necessary to take the cost into account to win that comparison.
In the pre digital era people worked with ledger books. In my perception the best accounting software is extremely simple to use and extremely simple to implement. The most important aspect however is that the time saving outweighs the cost so that you actually make money by saving on your overheads as a result of using an accounting package.
This made me a big fan of MSO Professional the most profitable accounting software I ever used, being a big fan of MSO professional was the reason I tried Mamut. That proved to be the worst decision I've ever made in my career. It is slow, not efficient, and not flexible and the learning curve is enormous even if you have worked and implemented accounting software for years. For a small business it is a definitive no no. An experienced accountant can work with it, but will very likely soon regret giving up his previous program in exchange for Mamut. In addition their customer service is poor and they don't score well on a cost comparison either.
The only thing great about Mamut is their sales strategy. That is where it stops. If the historical destiny of their namesake is any indication I'm pretty sure that once people start catching on to what Mamut really is a great marketed brand but a horrible product and service, we all know were Mamut will end. Good riddance I would say. This animal should never have been resurrected for it once was a majestic animal, nowadays it is a monstrosity pretending to be a great software accounting package.
