After selling a previous car on ebay auction website, i thought autotrader.co.uk will be a walk in the park. Turned out the worst nightmare.
Did the add, posted it...then 1 week no responses. Second week , scams started. You will get scammed but worst fraudsters, they will text you to make you dodgy offers or ask for deposit payment, email you for all sorts of dodgy questions etc.
Worst of all, one evening i started getting lots and lots of calls, everyone wanted the car. But they were all surprised of the low asking price and all asking whether the add had the write email address. Until one time later when a friend called me to ask why did i lower the price so much, and why did my add have someone's else name on it??
Only to realise to my shock that somebody changed my add, got into my account, and i had no clue. But people still call you.
I panicked, it was a saturday before bank holiday so nothing to do, turned out the scammer did not change my password so i could delete the add. But there are no options to delete the account! So here i am 1 week calling autotrader trying to get hold of their very busy security team...finally got there after many calls, only to be told that it was my fault i did not stay safe. With no proof. I asked for my money back, finally did...also told them that i am concerned as the scammer had access to my personal details, said it was fine.. They just want my money not my identity. Funny comment coming from a website with such poor security..
So on autotrader, not only you get price abuse from buyers ( just as much as on ebay) but their technology is so bad and unsafe that it will make you go mad. Ebay is not perfect, but this one is terrible!
