“What a lethargic airline”

written by on 30/05/2013

Did a return trip London Heathrow - Rome with Alitalia. On arriving at check-in at 4.45 am at Heathrow for a 6.45 am flight found a very long queue waiting to be checked-in due to there being only one check-in point open. Sometime later when the queue was getting shorter a second check-in point was opened and then a third and finally, when there was no queue, a fourth check-in opened. When the check-in staff eventually arrived they all looked as though they had all overslept. At the Departure Gate, boarding only commenced 10 minutes before the scheduled departure despite the information screens saying boarding would commence 30 minutes before departure. No apologies were offered by the staff who seem to delight in keeping passengers waiting. On the plane the cabin crew were surly and uninterested. On the return flight from Rome the Departure Gate was changed after check-in and boarding only commenced this time 5 minutes before the scheduled departure despite the display screens saying boarding would commence 30 minutes before departure and again no apologies or reasons were offered. The return flight was the flight from hell with the plane shaking and rattling for long periods and the worst landing ever experienced coupled with rude and surly cabin crew again.
