We booked through lastminute.com for our 1st wedding anniversary in London. We were going to go for a Premiere Inn where you know the good quality however we saw a secret hotel option. A 4 Star hotel near Hyde Park for £109.65, the price should be lower than normal because they can't publicise the named hotel offering low deals. True it was a gamble but it should be a 4 star hotel.
After booking it (no cancelation available) we got the hotel name: Hyde Park Premier London Paddington. After looking on their own website we saw we could get exactly the same but cheaper and with breakfast included.
So 1st issue is that lastminute.com misrepresented the value price you would get from their Secret Escapes.
We checked in last night and the 2nd issue is that this is not a 4 Star hotel. A double bed has been crammed into the room and my feet touch the wall. There's an air conditioning panel that doesn't work and its a sweat box, they have managed to squeeze a fan in though. The net curtains are ripped all over. The remote has its batteries held in by torn and peeling Sellotape, the handle on the inside of the shower has been broken, the bed squeaks and room above creaks whenever anyone moves.
They have spent money on the hotel in the past and some of the furnishing was quality however they haven't belt up the maintenance and its pure mis selling to class this currently as a 4 star hotel.
On the plus side outside is very quite which is lucky as we had to have the window open all night.
I'll never use lastminute.com again. Terrible pricing and mis representation of hotel details. It seem like they are trying to cash out on the brand recognition they've built up over the years.
