Ikea make good products but have a shockingly bad delivery service. We were expecting the delivery of 3 bookcases but only two and a bit were delivered. The two delivery men reliably informed us that they were missing a box and that "no doubt Ikea will arrange delivery", but the truth was that they didn't really care as they were just contractors and their job was just to drive the van and that was the sum total of their responsibility and interest. We phoned Ikea customer services (but couldn't get through), emailed them (but no response for three days) and tried their online chat (but just held in a queue). The following day we got through on chat and then received a phone call and it transpired that Ikea were unaware that the delivery was incomplete. The delivery department then stated that they would need up to 72 hrs to search their warehouse before they could look into the delivery of the missing box. This we found a little bit odd as they accepted that the box had not been delivered and we were not to interested in their warehouse search, simply wanting the missing box delivered as quickly as possible. One week and several chat messages later (the only way of communicating) we were given a date for delivery and guess what - it never turned up! This was even after checking with 3 different custom services staff that it was still on track for delivery. A day later, a delivery van randomly turned up and fortunately we happened to be in and took receipt of the final box, although I'm not quite sure what would have happens if we weren't in?
I would strongly advise NOT using the Ikea delivery service. Drive to the store and save yourself the stress of dealing with a poor delivery service and really inefficient customer services department.
