“Current Account Switch”

Tempted by a £100 offer to switch to the Halifax and a payment in lieu of interest each month while in credit, I applied to switch from the NatWest. The website quoted 'We'll keep you informed during the switch' and 'The switch should only take 4 weeks once accepted.' I was accepted, given an account number, sent a debit card and PIN, but never heard another word - nor was I credited with the £100!

After 5 weeks I tried to phone for an update, various times, but was always kept on a lengthy wait. I visited my 'local' branch, only to be told there's no details of any switch in the system. I produced my letter from the SWITCHING TEAM confirming my acceptance and asked why there's nothing on the system if I have an account, card and PIN? The young lady gave me her personal(?) phone number and suggested I call her with all my details on arriving home.

I phoned, but no answer. I phoned again but she wasn't available so someone took my details and said she'd get her colleague to phone me back - I'm still waiting nearly 3 weeks later! I wrote a letter to the Switching Team in Leeds 2 weeks ago and am still awaiting some kind of response from them too. How can a company be so useless in all forms of communication, and in all departments?

Surely there's a case for advertizing standards too, as the £100 has mysteriously vanished into thin air. For all I know the £100 could be in an employees personal account while I do all the donkey work!

Where can you go when nobody cares or even replies - absolutely useless!
