“poor quality leather”

Bought a pair of brogues from Jones in Newcastle in November, the sole has split already after around only six weeks wear. I returned them to the shop and the Manager has arranged to have new soles fitted, this is all well and good but she has also advised me I should not wear my shoes every day for work. I should have several pairs and alternate them to reduce wear. Sorry but I don't pay £140 for a pair of shoes and expect them to last less time than a pair for £50 from next. She obviously lives in a very different world to me where people can afford several pairs of shoes for work.
These shoes were a birthday treat for me as I normally buy my shoes from Next and I wanted a nice 'QUALITY' pair for a new job, looks like its back to Next for me in the future.
