“Not Happy”

written by newstart on 14/01/2013

Finally Hays have found me a short term temp job, a year after I had registered. However, the job is to start tomorrow and I am without any information about the job, whom I am reporting to, what the hours of work are and some very misleading information about parking. At least they have let me know the address of the company though. They were supposed to send me a email with the information before the weekend but nothing has arrived and despite me trying to contact them and leaving them messages I will wake up tommorrow knowing nothing about the role.
Have had problems with their consultants before, because when they don't get what they want they become rude, aggressive and try and force you into doing something you don't want to. The pay for the temp job is awful and I am expected to outlay nearly £80 on parking and £20 on petrol before I even get my first paycheck. This is money I don't actually have, so am not sure how they expect me to pay for the parking. This is probably why they mislead me about the parking situation, as I brought up my concerns about this straight away. But I foolishly believed the consultant telling me their was some parking and it's first come first served. 20 spaces for 619 employees!!!!!!!!
Ironically, the consultant who found me the job is someone who I have clashed with before and even sent in a formal complaint about-just proves how useless they are, as no reply was ever given.
Not sure how tommorrow will go, am going to try and find some cheaper parking and give the job I know nothing about a chance. However, I sense this is not a role which will last long term. Am not sure how such a successful agency can continue being so successful when they clearly cannot even cope with the basics of recruiting. And the consultants who will come across as your best friend when you do what they want, but as soon as you voice concerns they turn against you.
I would strongly advise people to try other routes into employment and make sure you do some homework about your local Hays agency before agreeing to anything.
