“Any chance of compensation for the stuff you lost?”

written by tallington on 07/01/2013

Now, the reason this company gets two stars is because the flights to Porto were a mere £100 over the Queen's Jubilee weekend, so that's based on price. The actual flight itself wasn't bad either. Here are my issues:
- Travelled to Porto on 31 May to 6 June
- Lost my companions luggage for three days
- Gave her an 'emergency kit' with very few things in it and told her to spend €70 should it go over 24 hours
- She had nothing and was wearing winter-type boots
-Called Tap and they said she could spend more, but keep it 'reasonable' (qualify 'reasonable'?). I can't remember how much she spent in total, but she didn't go over the top (knickers, a bra, bikini, beach towel, clothes, flip flops), which by the time you add up, isn't going to be cheap in a major city.
-Since we got back, she submitted her claim, and has received NOTHING. The only acknowledgement was the automated 'we have received your email' emails. We have chased by telephone, but they only deal with you by email and promise someone will get back to you. They never do (it has now been seven months).
-It's not like they're even disputing the claim; they simply don't even acknowledge it. At the very least, they should pay her the €70.

To leave cold England (you must remember the Jubilee weather?), arrive somewhere sunny, have to buy clothes because your airline lost them, and then to NEVER have your claim acknowledged is nothing short of a disgrace.
