Fully comprehensive insurance is an additional cost but almost a necessity.
The car comes with a full tank of petrol which you pay for at more than petrol station costs. You do not get any reimbursement for petrol remaining in the tank when you return the car - if you intend to infrequently use the car or only short trips then there will be a lot of unused petrol so a better option could be to use a company that allows you to refill the tank and only charges if the tank is not full on return.
