“Free Applications all in one place”

Every time I build a new PC, there’s a list of applications that Windows doesn’t include that I have to track down. A media player (VLC), PDF reader, office suite, etc. When it is a work PC, I can easily grab all of this software from work, but when building personal PCs, I always have to track down software all over the web. Downloadster.net tries to combat this by putting all of the applications needed in one place. I went there to get VLC media player, but I not only found that, but software I had never heard of but now consider a requirement (Mixxx DJ Software). It definitely saves a ton of time to be able to just open one site and download all the software I need. Since it is on the web, it also means that I don’t have to keep updating the software on a local copy, as Downloadster.net keeps track of always making sure they have the latest version of every application to download. That’s particularly nice in that I don’t have to worry about old versions of applications that might have security issues.
