“Driver gets away with being rude, loud, obnoxious ”

written by meeralynn on 24/11/2012

I have never in my years of dealing with complaints against individuals, come across a person who is such a routine offender that his name is automatically mentioned by your Derby office member of staff, without any need to give a description or further details, as happened yesterday!

I grant you that it's very well to try and crack down on people mis-using a Mango card. However, it is completely unacceptable, rude, unprofessional, projects a bad image on Trent Barton buses Sixes route having a driver such as this working for you. To be openly, and loudly reprimanded on the 6.2 bus leaving Belper at 9:30 hours on Friday 23/11/12, in front of a bus full of passengers, to be belittled in such a manner is downright unacceptable. My daughter had her Mango 16-19 year old card but Ian tried to confiscate this because my daughter had forgotten the pass holder that contained her B line card. She is an 18 yeard who looks like a 16 year old so to be questioned in this manner, in such an environment, to be threatened with confiscation of a card with £10 credit on it is simply unforgivable. My daughter also had cash on her and to avoid his raised voice and tone she offered to pay cash if he preferred.

After the humiliation, my daughter, who was on her way to a job interview, was distraught. She contacted me in a state and I had to try hard to reassure her and comfort her. Needless to say she didn't do her best at this interview.

Your bus driver is a disgrace to Trent Barton, he is a blot on the landscape of customer service. May I remind you that we pay for the bus service and don't hop on and off for free. I am disgusted and utterly appalled that you allow this person to carry on working in this manner despite so many complaints by members of the public. He requires training in people skills and should be suspended until such time that he passes an attitude interview test. Being an NHS employee personally, we would face disciplinary action for far less offensive behaviour.
