“Disappointing quality ”

Purchased Chaise Longue and Armchair from Scala leather range in store at about GBP 2000,-. After less than three years of occasional use the Chaise Longue already showed significant sagging at the seating end, suggesting poor foam padding.
As Habitat has gone into administration in June 2011, they are not required to care about potential prior warranties, but as the range was still being sold in store, I would expect someone to show some interest in customer experience with their product. I was also interested in what warranties would be offered if I bought the same product now. I spoke to several branch staff, where answers ranged from "1 month, after which one should know if there is a problem" to "our quality is that good, that we don't need any warranty". According to the final customer service staff I spoke to maximum warranty appears to be one year, which I don't consider long for a sofa at that sort of price level. Also, whilst branches still stocked the product, the website didn't and after further enquiry it seems that the product is being discontinued, perhaps due to a quality problem? This might be the only positive thing, indicating that might be trying to improve. Some Habitat furniture may better pass the test of time, but I would not want to take chances and buy furniture intended for longer-term use. Customer care also seems to be lacking, certainly with even senior branch staff.
