“Gripping TV show”

written by timmytank on 16/11/2012

The Killing (the original Danish version) is one of the best TV series I have ever seen. The plot unfolds over 24 episodes and centres on the murder of a young girl in Copenhagen. Three stories evolve in tandem. The first follows the efforts of the Police, particularly lead character Sarah Lund and her partner Jan Meyer in solving the case. The second is the story of the family trying to deal with the tragic loss of their 19 year old daughter and the third follows the politicians who become embroiled in the whole affair. The stories all intertwine and concentration is required to follow what is going on. This I found was not a problem and was possibly a benefit of watching with subtitles, rather than the US version. Because you are having to look at the screen to see what is being said you are less likely to 'wonder'.
Gripping from the start, this is a great way to spend the cold winter months under a rug on the sofa.
