Evanscycles.co.uk promises to deliver their bikes ready assembled. All the recipient needs to do is adjust the handlebars and saddle and attach the pedals. A multi-tool and pedal spanner should be included so that the recipient can do this at home.
Evans allow you to pay £30 to have your bike delivered on a Saturday. I did this as I had no weekdays off on the week I wanted the bike. True to form my bike arrived on the Saturday.
I took the bike out of the bok - it was indeed mostly assembled and the bike was clean and free of scratches etc. I then looked in the box for the pedal spanner and multi-tool I would need to actually make my bike rideable. No sign of them. I checked the box several all times but they had not been included.
I contacted Evans Sales Team straight away explaining they had not been included. I received a reply which apologised and said they would send out the tools as soon as possible. Two weeks later I am still waiting for them to arrive.
I ended up taking my bike to my local bike shop where they were very helpful - they adjusted the handlebars and affixed the pedals so that my bike is actually rideable now. They told me that if I want to buy a bike or any accessories in future even if they don't stock them they can order it in for me and assemble it. I would certainly do this in future rather than order something from the faceless Evans who clearly don't care about their customers and have made no effort to resolve my problem.
I would certainly not recommend evanscycles.com to anybody - if they forgot to include my tools I am sure it has happened before and will happen again and then your bike is as good as useless until they arrive or you go out and purchase them yourself. Two weeks later I am still waiting for me.
