I unwittingly purchased a pair of grey ugg boots from MandM direct and they are without doubt FAKE!! A pretty good fake, i will give them that.. but a fake none the less.
looking at them.. the label inside the left boot has the ugg sun logo holigram on it as you would expect, the stitching is good, the ugg australia label stitched on the back of the boots is a near match to a genuine label, the fur is soft inside..
The smell hit me the second i opened the box, they smelt cheap, to the point where i couldnt get the smell of dye out of my nose all evening!!! and the sole is completely wrong, the genuine ugg boot has the ugg sun logo embossed, so the pattern is the grip if you like, whereas these dodgy numbers are the other way round, the sun logo is printed inwards! The box is flimsy and good for nothing, there was no care booklet as you would expect from a genuine pair of ugg boots, and they are wrapped in some cheap naff paper!!
I phoned them up (after tracking down their number finally online via an MandM direct purchase line, as the number they provided me on my reciept was a completely different company that led nowhere but a dead line).. and the woman said to me in a very rough wheezy devonshire accent, and i quote "ooo noo love, we'd get shut down if we did things loike that love, they're the real thing they are, no fakes, we'd get shut down. We get the boots from all sortsa places and without boxes and all sorts, so we pack em up the best we can, thats why we can sell them off cheap." hmmm so are genuine ugg's expensive because they have a lovely box then?? She did offer me a refund, and was quite polite, but the fact of the matter is, if i'd of wanted a moody pair of Ugg's i'd of asked dodgy dave down the pub, we all know a dodgy dave and we all know he can get Uggs and for alot less than the £80 MandM direct have ripped me off by, and i get the feeling this company is no better than one big dodgy dave, owned, run, and supplied by them. I took the dazzlers into a genuine ugg retailer in Cambridge, and straight away they said the same, the smell is overwhelming, and they're just wrong. I feel let down and dissapointed, but it's taught me that the finer things in life don't come cheap.. and as the old saying goes 'if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is'. I will be taking it further, and do what i can to avoid anyone else being in this position, and as the kind lady said, they'd get shut down if they did things loike that, yes, that is correct. AVOID.
