“Great Service, Old Content ”

Hello all, I thought since i have been using Netflix for awhile i would write a short review about it outlining The Good and The Bad of the Netflix Service! For those that don’t know, Netflix is a Movie and TV Streaming service that allows you to stream directly to your computer and other compatible devices.


The Good

Fast Streaming, I was extremely impressed by how fast i could steam the videos on Netflix, the videos stream much faster than YouTube. Even with my slow 1.5mbit/s internet speed, i was able to stream Standard Definition without any Lag or Stutter.

High Quality, Netflix chooses a quality based on your internet speed so you always get smooth playback, you can however force Netflix to play videos in High Definition if you are prepared to wait for the Video to buffer

Low Cost, At £5.99 per month this service could be considered relativity cheap depending on how much you watch movies online.

Free Trail, Netflix’s try before you buy scheme is fantastic because you get to try the full service and it allows you to realise how much you use it and if its going to be worth paying for.

The Bad

Dated content, the one issue i found with Netflix is that their content is outdated. usually about one year behind the current releases which could be an issue for you. Netflix currently try to balance the movie release date with the monthly charge because obviously, the newer the movies are the more expensive it is to provide them, i wish they would introduce a tiered system whereby you can choose to pay more if you want newer films.

As you can see, it shapes up pretty well. I use this service and will continue to use it for the foreseeable future. If you looking for a good streaming service but don’t mind some oldish content, its a pretty awesome deal. Give the free trail a go.
