“Refreshingly Delightful For Us Females!”

written by DCLehnsherr on 16/09/2012

Like the others I glanced at I was lucky enough to receive this product as part of a Bzz Campaign.
It is in fact my first such one and as such was amazingly exciting.

Located in the cider aisle of ASDA (but not my little Tesco), they are easy to find and stand out the second you see them. I opted for the 4 small bottles having failed to spot the larger one (though I am told it does exist) and this flavour because it seemed to be the one that would appeal most.
And I sure was right.

Perhaps before I write about the cider I will tell you about my tastes. I am very very fussy with my drinks. I prefer cider because it tastes fruitier than anything else, but tend to go for the more odd flavours like Toffee Apple because you can't taste the alcohol.
It was with some cautiousness then that I had my first swig, and then with much eagerness that I continued. Don't get me wrong it wasn't gone in seconds, but it lasted less time than others (which may have been because it is a 330ml bottle as opposed to the 500ml I am used to) but it tasted so delightful I found it easy and refreshing to drink.

And that is a quality that caught me off guard. Many many drinks market themselves as refreshing, but tend to lose that after the third mouthful. This kept that quality right to the end which I applaud it for.
The flavours themselves are sophisticated. It is based on pears, strawberry and elderflower (yep that was read from the bottle) and you can get a hint of all those. They might not be recognisable as they are interlinked, but there is a definite tiering of the flavours as they filter through. As the wine buffs do I would be tempted to let this lie for a moment to get all the taste out before swallowing it is that good.

The bottles feel dainty and call to mind summers days (but then the campaign has marketed it as such so that could be subliminal) but I can definitely see myself sat in the garden on a patio sort of thing with a few close friends just chatting and sipping out our special cider. It is perfect for that. I am not so sure how it will fit into the gloomier winter weather, but I reckon Lambrini will have something up their sleeves.
5 stars, even if you are as picky about your drinks as myself.
