“Dont bother”

Written on: 10/09/2012

I had the Braziliana treatment done at a salon in Woking under the Groupon offer. I paid £40 for it when usually it is £99 at that salon.
I straighten my hair every day which is normally slightly wavy and fizzy when left naturally. My hair is long and the process took roughly 2 hours. I dont know if it is formaldehyde free the one used on me, but the stylist didnt use gloves or a mask. He wasnt the gentlist of stylist neither - he didnt seem to know how not to tug long hair and didnt appreciate how much he was hurting me despite me telling him to brush the tugs out before pulling at them (I never ever have this problem at my usual salon)...but this is a review of the treatment not the stylist, so irrelevant!

That day I did experience sore eyes, now I dont know if that is related to the treatment or the fact I had my contact lenses in so early in the morning as my appointment was at 8am, and the fact my hair kept going in my eyes, as you arent allowed to tuck it behind your ears for 4 days. I also got a sore throat the day after, but this could have been related to an imminent cold I developed. But I did feel at the time it was a coincidence, especially my eyes which remained sore even after taking out my lenses early.

It was very hard work keeping my hair dry for 4 days (try washing your face without tying your hair back!). After the treatment my hair did look lovely and shiny and straight and I did manage to keep it dry, not tuck it behind my ears and not tie it up for the 4 days. It stayed straight regardless of sleeping on it loose, but by the end of the 4 days I was desperate to wash it as it felt greasy because I usually wash my hair every other day. I used a shower cap to keep it back and up whilst face washing and showering.

However, come the long anticipated day of washing I had high hopes. But it made absolutely no difference to my hair. My hair is exactly the same as it was before, despite all the hard work keeping it dry, and using the braziliana shampoo and conditioner. I found it quite unbelievable that it made no difference!!!! I still need to blow dry my hair and straighten it as before. What was the point?!!!!

I am just glad I did not pay full price and I will never bother to have such a treatment again. A waste of time and money. Just shows there is no miracle time saving treatment to keep your hair looking "just sleek" or straight or even blow dried! Perhaps it is just the braziliana make, but I wont bother to daydream over brazilian blow drys again.
