“Damaged baggage & disinterested stewardesses”

We flew from Boston to Bermuda with Delta (this was the first and will be he last time we fly with them !!), at check in we were charged for our baggage although like other reviewers I am sure this was included in our ticket price, but could not continue with check in till we paid. Once on the flight and about to take off the passenger in front of me was clearly using his Blackberry, but when the stewardess came through the cabin to do 'final checks' she never even looked at anyone ! (the passenger did turn it off himself when we started to taxi to the runway). Nearing Bermuda the cabin crew came through the cabin with immigration cards, we are British and the stewardess had no clue as to what card we needed to fill in and gave us one for US nationals returning to the States, I had to call her back and ask for a different one, she 'tutted' and virtually threw it at me! We arrived at Bermuda collected our cases and went to our hotel. When we went to unpack we noticed that on our four cases, 2 of our 4 padlocks were missing and another fell apart when I went to unlock it, one of the zip tags was also missing and on another case the zip was damaged, so we assumed our cases had been opened, (but if this was security reasons there should have been a note or tag on or in the case). Sadly we didn't notice this before we left the airport so couldn't report it to the Delta desk (assuming there is one at Bermuda airport ?). So I have twice done an on-line report to Delta, listing what happened to our cases and so far they haven't even bothered to reply, so therefore I can only assume that this practise of case opening and bad customer service is common place within Delta airlines? As I said at the beginning of my review we will never fly with Delta again !!
