Having no prior knowledge of solar panels I've found this website to be extremely helpful. All the information you need can be found with rough guidelines of what to expect component wise, space required for different solar panel layouts and a rough idea of what you will be paying per panel.
They even separate the good from the sub par manufacturers, so you can rest assured you will be buying a good quality product. If you do not wish to go with the biggest manufacturers there is a list comprised of the leading manufacturers along with details of each of their panels so you can easily see what your paying for and compare them to others.
