I urgently needed to hire an estate car to go on holiday, after my own car was damaged. I was able to book the right car, at the right price for a few hours later the same day. As well as receiving email confirmation I was further reassured by a telephone call shortly afterwards from Thrifty also confirming the booking and with further details of the car and collection arrangements. Booking through 121 did reduce the cost of hire and the cost of waiver insurance regarding any excess I might have been required to pay in the event of the vehicle being damaged.
The only downsides to this booking was:
1). I was surprised when Thrifty said because I booked through 121 I would be charged for a FULL tank of Diesel (70 litres)when returning the car - no matter how much fuel was left in the tank. Had I booked direct with Thrifty I would only have needed to top up the tank to full and been able to shop around for the best price.
2).I was concerned to be advised that my £500 excess liabilty for "damage costs" included stone chips to the front of the car. Surely this is fair wear and tear, how do you avoid stone chips when driving?
