“AUTO EUROPE NIGHTMARE!”

I hired a car via Thrifty with Auto Europe at Olbia Airport, Sardinia. The service I experienced was absolutely terrible, rude, and completely inefficient. After queueing in a very hot building with my 1 year old son, I was told I hadn't printed the correct paper work. I printed every piece of paper that was made available to me when I booked online with Thrifty. The woman serving me was so rude and said that she couldn't help because I didn't have a specific piece of paper. I pleaded with her to help asking her what I needed to do to get this piece of paper. She was so rude and said that there was nothing she could do and advised that I book a car through another company and cancel my booking with Auto Europe. She wouldn't even give me a number to phone because I made the booking in the UK.

After even more pleading she still wouldn't help and i was forced to try and hire a car elsewhere, but no one had any cars available because they were so busy. At this stage we had been trying to get our car for 2.30 hours. My 1 year old son was getting dehydrated because it was so hot in the building. I was in complete despair because I felt like we were stranded at the airport - a disastrous start to a holiday!. In tears I went back to the Auto Europe desk and luckily the supervisor had returned from lunch. He heard me pleading again with the same woman, he came and spoke to me and I explained what had happened. He then and spoke to the woman and 5 minutes later she had retrieved the piece of paper that previously completely unobtainable. 15 minutes later we were given our hire car.


Obviously you can understand how upset we were to be treated in such a bad manner, for apparently no reason. As a result of waiting in the hot building for 3 hours my son was very distressed and ended up vomiting in the hire car - which I was then later charged a 70 euro cleaning fee for. I will NEVER use Thrifty or Auto Europe EVER EVER again.
