Had many great experiences with Argos, purchasing in stores.
However, for the first time, my sister ordered bunk beds and a fridge- freezer for her and her two children for their new home.
Nine days after the order, they called to delay her delivery, stating that they were having problems with the suppliers (the item was not in stock, so they're systems were misinformed when she ordered and it was listed as in-stock). Unhappy about the fact that they had sold the item on misinformation, she figured that rather than waiting for a refund and setting up with a new company, she would be better off taking the alternative delivery for ten days later.
If you've ever had home delivery from Argos, I'm sure you know what happens next. It gets to today, the day of delivery (between 12-2pm). They call her up about 11.30 to tell her it's been cancelled. They still can't get it from the suppliers, and called her up ON THE DAY to cancel because, surprise(!), their systems are utterly inadequate (again) and it only just showed up. They offered her a £8.95 refund for delivery costs, which does not come close to covering all the money she has lost having to throw away food everyday because she cannot store it. And you can't really put a price on the suffering of her kids still having to sleep on the floor.
All we have received is apologies and £8.95 while they sit on her money and treat her with such disrespect. DON'T order home delivery items from Argos. Once they have your money, they have no concern for your well-being or the contract they made with you. Unbelievable. I buy most things on-line and I have never had this kind of problem and nonchalance from a company. They could not care less. They'll deal with you when they can be bothered, IF they can (one friend's items NEVER SHOWED UP.
