“A game of two halves!”

Written on: 25/07/2012

First half commentary
I bought a Benicassim festival ticket for my daughter from Seatwave last year. When she arrived at the festival she was told the ticket was not valid. While she stood at the entrance to the festival in tears I had to buy her another one over the phone from lastminute.com and she got in OK. I was not very happy and contacted Seatwave. They disclaimed any responsibility and essentially told me to go away. They would not even offer a goodwill payment. I was not impressed.

Second half commentary
My daughter wanted to return to Benicassim this year so obviously I bought a ticket from lastminute.com. Unfortunately she was unable to use the ticket because she was let down by some friends who decided not to go. After much thought I decided to use Seatwave to sell her ticket. Selling was straightforward and hassle-free. A reasonable price was achieved, not as much as I had hoped for but I knew that there were lots of other similar sellers out there. It was easy to list the ticket and check other prices - and adjust accordingly. The ticket was eventually sold and the money received as promised. All in all, a good experience for me as a seller. I would use them again if I had to sell some other ticket.

Would I use them if I was buying? I am not sure. I am still annoyed at what happened last year. I think their customer service people were not very helpful or understanding. Perhaps they have to deal with lots of dissatisfied customers and so one more makes no difference to them.

Final result: 1-1 (a draw)!
