I hate the usual 'hard sell' of extra insurances - this time a new one on me. Dollar push their 'Pass24' which is a daily charge to bypass toll charges - the state of Colorado has recently introduced unmanned electronic toll roads i.e. no opportunity for tourists to pay tolls as they go. Never having been to Colorado before and not knowing how many toll roads I would be likely to encounter I felt I had no choice but to take this option at a charge of some $138 for the duration of the rental. A few days later I had covered some 500 miles and not encountered a single toll road!! When I telephoned Dollar to cancel the 'Pass24' I was told I would have to return to Denver airport - utterly unrealistic as I was now in Jackson, Wyoming! To be fair when I eventually dropped off the car at Denver a very nice employee agreed to refund the payment retrospectively.
