I've used Alamo/National lots of time, and generally they're fine - cars in good condition, fast pickup & dropoff. However any time I rent at Gatwick I've found the queue at the desk very slow-moving. It took me 40 minutes to get my car last week as there was just one person on the desk.
On my return, I refilled the car but the fuel display on the Vauxhall Corsa didn't move (3rd time this has happened to me with Corsas!). I had to go in to the desk to explain, but once I showed my fuel receipt the guy on the desk sorted it very quickly and confirmed there would be no charge.
