“Dyson DC 33 Multifloor. Unstable and unfriendly”

written by bobjan1 on 18/07/2012

Good parts - Plenty of suction and a HEPA filter. For straightforward floor cleaning there's no problem.
Bad points - The spring in the hose is much too powerful; the machine will constantly be charging up behind you. Dyson's advice is too place it on an angle. This either causes it to fall over or simply straighten up and charge across the floor until it bangs into your legs.
On stairs, because of the strange clumsy design of the wand, two hands are needed to control it. The tools are not able to swivel in the end of the wand so that corners on the stair treads are difficult to clean.
The shape of the wand makes it almost useless for architraves, tops of cupboards, curtain rails etc.
The combined brush / crevice tool is much too short to clean down the side of seat cushions.
The wand / hose assembly is very fiddly to replace in it's holder; the flex is anything but non-kink; the filters can be washed out but the housing doesn't always go back properly.
It is frustrating when comparing this with one of the earliest models which had none of these design faults.
We have owned this thing for 6 months and have given it more than a fair trial, now we're going to cut our losses and buy a different make.
