“Easy to use, always good value”

written by silvermoss28 on 11/07/2012

Agoda.com is the one-stop shop for all travel accommodation organisers. I find travel organising rather stressful; but the very user-friendly site helps tremendously to minimise stress.

What I like about the site:

1) User ratings show, at a glance, what other guests thought of the hotel. This is ranked out of 10.

2) Integrated map search means that if you have a business or conference venue you want to be near, you can instantly see what hotels are near that venue (stats shown include name, a thumbnail-sized pic, "from $$$" listing, and star rating)

3) Great rates! Always on par with, or lower than, rates found elsewhere. Also there are heaps of specials available - for example, I recently booked a hotel at the Stamford at a 50% discount rate.

4) Comprehensive, global hotel listing, making the site a good place to search for international hotel deals, in cities you may not be familiar with.

Things to be aware of:

1) Make sure you bring the voucher they email you to the hotel to check in.

2) Their help centre is based in Bangkok so expect time delays (in part due to time zone differences) if you want questions answered.

3) Some hotels (annoyingly) do not let you deal with them directly if you have booked through Agoda.com - meaning you have to write to Agoda's help desk and ask THEM to sort it out for you. ALLOW TIME TO DO THIS (as per 2 above).
