I am extremely disappointed with AVAST! antivirus Professional 4.8 on my Windows 7 PC.
I e-mailed on Wednesday via their support desk, and marked it as an emergency, and received no response to this day. I then tried calling, to be found out that they are in the Czech Republic, and they have no offices in Britain, so I had no hope of contacting them then. I then tried their American helpline to be told to call technical support on a toll free phone number.
I phoned this number (it was an overseas call!) to be put on hold for 9 minutes, and to be put through to a man who said it would be $99.99 for him to go onto our computer to fix it. We asked him what the point of the anti-virus was, he said to “Detect the viruses”, and “Several Leading Virus companies do not remove some viruses so we need to take it to the next level.”
I said no. I asked him if there was a geographical address I could contact to write a complaint, he said no. I then thanked him for his help and I looked on their website to find the office addresses. So he lied to me.
I have since bought Norton 360, as my computer was non-responsive. I put it on safe mode, installed Norton, and my computer ran perfectly again. Avast! failed to detect 365 Viruses (so far!) , and AVAST Antivirus never told me, and I will never go back to Avast! Antivirus ever again.
