Bad Points
Noise while scanning for secure channel. Poor battery life (even with rechargeable batteries). Poor clarity.

General Comments
Tomy Walkabout Classic - Price is good considering all others charge an arm and a leg just for something that receives and transmits sound! Compact enough to be used as a portable monitor. Nice idea to have a button so you can communicate to your baby, but be real, if your baby cries... speaking through a monitor is not gonna make them stop!! I bought the monitor as a replacement for one I had since my 14mos old baby girl was newborn. The previous one was a Phillips brand monitor. It worked brilliantly until a few days ago when my daughter threw it in the bath! I get this one home and the noise it makes when scanning for a secure channel was unbelievably loud! and the time it took to search was ridiculous! I bought it so I could have the option to use batteries (like my other one) or the power adaptor. The batteries didn't last 2 seconds in the monitor! I had no problem with the other monitor and the use of batteries. Because of the battery thing, it really limited me to where I could take the parent unit. The clarity was very poor to say the least...the volume had to be right up to hear her and when it was turned up the clarity seemed to denigrate. I am not sure if that one was faulty but nonetheless I have since returned it and am in search of a new monitor.
