Before we moved the only cinema choices we had were the Odeon and Vue. The Odeon's were always a bit worn out and the screens were sometimes a bit scratched and old and the seats uncomfortable unless you forked out for Premiere seats... The Vue was pretty nice and unfortunately we moved too far away from our nearest one to be able to visit anymore. Anyway. Our local Cineworld is pretty good, it has a nice layout with a big foyer and is generally clean. The screens are good and their IMAX screens are impressive although not as big as the one on the Southbank.
The staff are young but friendly and we've never had any problems when going. We generally avoid Wednesdays and visit during the day when we can to avoid crowds. The one thing that annoys me (and this can be said of all cinemas without attendances) is that the cinema is just too light. I used to love an almost pitch black room to watch the film in. Now you can easily see everyone else in the room which can be distracting if they keep moving or getting up.
As we've found everywhere, prices are fairly steep so we steer clear of snacks as much as possible and try and eat before we go to resist them ;)
