On 9 May 2012 I returned home to find the right hand side front gate of two which are operated by electric arms about 9 inches (250mm) ajar, the LH side one being in the closed position. There had been no one in up to then. On examination I found that the gate had been forced open and the mounting between the arm and gate had been broken at a weld. When I opened my front house door I found a Yodel card pushed through the letter box which is their standard card which says "Sorry I missed you todayWhen I called to" and on the card ticked in biro "a safe place" and written in biro "under table back of house on patio".
I phoned the depot where the courier was based and subsequently spoke to the acting manager to voice my complaint and then e-mailed the detail at his request. He eventually e-mailed back after prompting by me to say he had interviewed the courier who insisted that the gates were ajar on his arrival and as a result of that the company were not prepared to pay for the damage and repair. The courier is lying. No other delivery was made that day. There is a bell pus and a letterbox on the brick pillar outside the gates where the card could have been left for re-arrangement of the delivery.Instead entry was forced.
I have complained to their national complaints service to no avail.During the complaints procedure I was asked if I had any CCTV of the incident which I don't have.It was also stated that the company always encourage couriers to deliver whenever possible.
I will not touch this company with a barge pole!!!!
