“DISAPOINTED AND LET DOWN”

Booked our flights with Strategic Airlines through Olympic. We did it with a month in advance as well. Couple of days before we were due to fly, we got a phone call telling us the flight is cancelled. They offered to take us to another city on another day?!? A decision that I was supposed to make over the phone during a short conversation?!? Like we didn't have a hotel booked, a car hire organised, a jobs to go leave and come back to and so on....
When I complained, I was told that it is their job to inform me of changes, offer us an alternative flights and not much more. Off course, they can refund the money. The fact that the same money a month ago would have bought us a flights on another airline and that now we might not be able to get flights even if we paid double for our tickets didn't bother the lady I spoke to. I didn't expect them to do miracles, but the alternative I was offered was going to cost us £££ left right and center. I should stress that they still had flights on their website for the place and date that we were supposed to have, but this was not even mentioned to me during the conversation. Basically,from their point, the airline let me down and I was on my own.
When I checked the airline we were supposed to fly with and learned of how unreliable they are, I was stunned. Why the Olympic uses a company with such a poor record, I don't understand. What I do now is that I would not use either of them ever and that I'll make sure that everyone I know is aware of those kamikaze companies. After all, holidays are what we work and leave for.
Lastly, I look to leave a feedback on every experience, good or bad. So, this is not a rant from someone bitter. It is an honest account on my experience with Olympic.
