“Awful”

Written on: 19/06/2012

I received a makeover for two package as a birthday present and attended NEW ID Studios Manchester.

The makeover is described on the voucher as follows; "when you arrive to the studio you will be greeted with a glass of Bucks Fizz and have a personal consultation with your stylist"

The reality is that I was greeted by a dirty glass of tap water, made to wait for a good half an hour and asked to fill out a generic form regarding my make up/hair requests. I was then shown to my seat to have my hair done along with my friend who I had brought along with me. The next stage of the makeover is described on the voucher as "receiving a relaxing head massage". The reality was that we had our hair scrubbed by two "stylists" with bad attitude, no massage involved at all.

We were then shown to our seats where I was told my hair was too dry and asked if I meant to have my hair dyed so light or was it by accident before being asked to purchase a conditioning creme. My friend who was with me was told her hair is "too thick" to do the style she requested.

We then had a hair cut which lasted a maximum of 5 minutes before our styles being done (which were poor to say the least). I visited my usual hairdresser shortly after the haircut and your studios and she actually asked who cut my hair because the cut was so badly done!

After this we were taken to the make up artist who ignored our requests for natural make up and made us look like we were going on a night out. Also, she had to stop constantly throughout the makeover as she was suffering heart palpitations as she hadn't eaten all day!!

We then went on to the "photo shoot" which was rushed and uncomfortable. Definitely not glamourous.

We then waited 30 minutes for our photos to be prepared and went into a room where we looked at the pictures. I didn't like any of the photos and neither did my friend. We were pressured by the man showing us the pictures who constantly tried to make us buy pictures we didn't even like for a good hour or so!

It is now a month down the line and I haven't even received our two "free" photos we selected, although the company were quick to deduct a £10 delivery charge from my deposit. £10 delivery with the reasoning of two lots of special delivery, although both the photos are coming to the same address and therefore only one lot of special delivery should be deducted. I did mention this to the staff at the studio but was told there's nothing they can do about it.

I would not recommend going to NEW ID manchester, you'll have an awful day.
