“What cost loyalty? ”

I've been a member for 17 years and only called them out once about 4 years ago for battery failure while on campsite. I changed to joint cover to include my husband a couple of years ago Now up for renewal they wrote to say that because of my length of membership they have given me "complimentary" gold cover with extra benefits, free of charge My membership has increased by £30!!! So how is this free?? have resigned my membership and will go without cover in future. There's no such thing as customer loyalty.
