“Fantastic hack”

written by JNichol on 16/06/2012

This was a groupon purchase. First impression at Mill Farm riding school was not good. We were left to stand around for ages with no explanation, everyone ignored us. Then we were told we had to go to another riding centre for the actual hack, which no-one had bothered to explain beforehand.
What a difference when we actually arrived at the trekking centre. Josh and Ruth (the instructors) greeted us with a really friendly and proffesional manner. They helped us fit hats and protectors properly and took the time to introduce themselves and the ponies we would be riding. Everything was done in such a professional way - really, really impressive. Ruth took two of us out on a novice ride and we had a wonderful time - the rain just about held off! The ponies were responsive and very good natured. The countryside was great and varied. We got some good trots and even a couple of canters. Having not ridden for many years I was incredibly impressed with the set-up, the reassuring and capable staff, the friendly atmos and the genuine ponies - obviously well loved and looked after. We will definitely be going back as regulars if poss! I highly recommend the trekking centre - dont be put off by the poor reception at the riding school though. Guess they are very busy, but it would have taken only 30 seconds to say hello and explain the set-up. A shame they let the side down as Josh, Ruth and everyone else we met up at the trekking centre were absolutely superb.
