“unfulfilled order due to stock position”

I placed my order on the micro scooter site with my rather excited daughter sitting next to me having saved her birthday and pocket money for a new scooter. She chose her scooter and a lock and as we paid for the guaranteed quick delivery - eagerly awaited delivery.

My confirmation of dispatch email confirmed the items (a scooter and lock) had been sent to the courir.

To my surprise all we received was the lock for which I had paid more for delivery than the lock actually cost!
When I called to query I was told the scooter colour I ordered was only available as pre-order and wouldn't be dispatched for another month. Aparantly this should have been clear from the website. Well it wasn't otherwise I would not have ordered and the dispatch email was clearly incorrect. To be fair, the company processed the refund quickly - but then I question whether they should have debited my account for something they can't yet supply.
