We had a kitchen fitted with a dual fuel Range Cooker. We found out that non Gas Safe registered fitters were employed (used to be called Corgi). We had a gas leak for over 7 weeks before they managed to fix it. The cupboards were fitted too close to the hob even though a B&Q surveyor had passed the plans so putting us at risk of fire. The fitter put in the wrong type of ventilation fitting (supplied by B&Q) which is unserviceable and according to Gas Safe will at some point block. Eventually we had Gas Safe re-install the cooker which had been illegally connected.
Does B&Q care? No they do not - in fact they refuse to communicate with us. They do say that IF we should have an accident and be injured/killed and after an investigation if they were deemed responsible they might consider taking some action.
ATTENTION: ANY ONE WHO HAS HAD A KITCHEN FITTED IN THE LAST 5 YEARS BY B&Q
GET GAS SAFE IN NOW TO ENSURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN A GAS HOB AND WALL CUPBOARDS IS TO CURRENT STANDARDS. THE MOST GLARING CLUE IS IF YOUR WALL CUPBOARDS LINE UP WITH THE SIDE OF YOUR COOKER IT IS PROBABLY WRONG.
Anyone thinking of getting a dual fuel cooker from B&Q think again.
They did not use Gas Safe fitters in our kitchen and don't accept any responsibility for their faulty kitchens, and deny use of non gas safe fitter. I have been told "It's your word against ours and we are B&Q"
