“A memorable weekend in Bournemouth”

Written on: 28/05/2012 by KateYoung85 (0 reviews written)

HOTEL 9 out of 10
When we arrived at the hotel we received a warm, friendly welcome. The hotel manager introduced himself to me and said he had upgraded the hen's room to a suite (it was lovely) and had opened the outdoor pool for us. Throughout our stay the hotel staff were excellent.

RESTAURANT 1 out of 10
Friday evening we went to The Litten Tree, I would not describe this as a restaurant it was a cross between a strip club and a weatherspoons pub. The food choices were your typical pub grub; ham, egg and chips, burger and chips and scampi and chips. The food choices were certainly not to restaurant standard and the quality was not good. In addition, because it was a pub and not a restaurant groups of lads were very drunk and intrusive while we were eating; we couldn't get out of there quick enough. During our meal we had to witness a stripper (stag night) performance; classy. This did cause a dampner to our evening and we decided to head back to our hotel. Six out of the eighteen group members had the burger meal and were either violently sick through the night or mid morning Saturday; one of which was the hen and her friend who is 6 weeks pregnant. I went into the Litten Tree to complain and was told by the Duty manager that the manager would call me later on that evening; I didn't hear back from anyone.

COCKTAIL CLASS - 10 out of 10
Unfortunately one of our group members couldn't attend because of the suspected food posioning but it was the highlight of the weekend. It was really good fun and I would highly recommended it; we will definately be doing it again.

CLUB ENTRY - 5 out of 10
We arrived at the club to be told we were not on the list; I told the bouncer we had booked through Eclipse and he said they didn't have any bookings for Eclipse or any of the group member names I gave him. Fortunately there was no entry fee into the club which suprised us because we were under the impression this was part of the package we had paid for. It was more of a bar than a club and it was very busy and hot, we would have preferred a larger club.

OVERALL
During the lead up to the hen weekend Eclipse were great; very helpful and organised. The hotel and cocktail class were excellent. The 'restaurant' was absolutely awful and the burger meal ruined the Friday/Saturday for 6 members of the group. I would use eclipse again but I would insist on approving the restaurant first and go with a well known chain.
