I have used Halifax for over 20 years, a few years ago I transferred 15k from another bank account into my Halifax account as I was purchasing a vehicle the next day. I went into Halifax online and the funds were there and it said they were available for withdrawal. I dove over an hour to the garage to pick up my new motor handed my debit card over only to be told it had been declined! I called the Halifax and they told me they were ‘holdings the funds’ and I would have no access for 3 days!!
I had to go to the HSBC bank (20mis away) and sort a deal with them. I promptly cancelled my Halifax account!
Now when I saw the Halifax reward account I thought for jumping 1k through the account each month £5 wasn’t a bad return. I setup the account online and it was all good..... not so, I deposited 1k into the account and then by accident transferred another 1k from my business account into the Halifax instead of my personal HSBC account. I thought this wouldn’t be a problem and logged into my Halifax online account to setup a new payment so I could transfer the 1k back to my HSBC account, however it told me I had not logged any telephone numbers online, so I did, it then told me I was locked out of my online banking!! I called Halifax and failed the telephone banking security even though I have this wrote down and I had used it several times previous. They then informed me my online services were locked out for 7 days and I couldn’t reset my telephone banking over the phone, they would send me out a PIN. As this was out of hours on a Friday evening I had no access TO MY OWN MONEY! The following Friday I still had no PIN sent so I went into the branch only to be told Halifax have never sent an new PIN out so I would have to wait another 5 days! I could however get back online, I went to pay back my 1k and what do you know when you do a payment Halifax have to call you on one of your registered phones, whatever I select it tells me ‘An error has occurred and to call them’ I have now been on hold 51 mins and have wrote this message while ON HOLD!
I cannot believe the incompetence of this bank nothing ever runs smoothly with them and their policies are ridicules, no other banks that I use need to call me back when I do a transfer or bill payment! And I have never had to hold over 50mins to speak to someone.
Bank with HSBC I had one issue with them and they compensated me with £70 and a case of wine!
HALIFAX YOUR A JOKE AND IM STILL ON BLOODY HOLD 51mins AND COUNTING!!!!!
