“I've quit!”

Written on: 09/05/2012 by Angel_12 (1 review written)

I am 29 and was smoking abour 15 per day, ofter more on weeknds/nights out etc. I have tried to quite numerous times, usually I can last a couple of weeks by using patches, but I always ended up back on them when I had a drink/stressful day.

I am now nearly at the end of week 6, and have been quit for 29 days! I started to notice on about day 4 that I wasn't enjoying cigarettes as much, and by day 7 I had cut down to about 4 a day. Cigarettes were tasting horrible, and I wasn't getting any 'releif' from them. I had planned on quitting on day 10, however had my last cigarette on day 9 after lunch, and decided not to buy any more.

I don't know how to explain it, but champix canges your mind frame in regards to smoking. Cravings are greatly reduced, I have had the occasional one however this doesn't last long and is milder. You don't get that 'Oh God what I'd do for a cigarette' feeling that takes over your whole body. I almost feel that my eyes have been opened and I know what cigarettes really are.

Side effects have been minor for me - occasional nausea for about 5 mins in the morning after taking it, however as everyone says: take with food to prevent this (I am not really a breakfast person). Occasion wild dreams during the first 2 weeks, however I am prone to wild dreams anyway. Some irritability, however have recently started a particulary stressful job, so probably would be slightly irritable anyway even if I smoked. Probably more so!

Good luck everyone!
