“Sold me stock they didn't have”

Bought two chairs on line, thinking there was a 10 to 14 day deliver date.
After 14 days contacted the company, stated they had not even processed the order yet, but was assured items would be dispatched that week.
Still no order.
I contacted Kirsten at Customer services, she stated that they had just carried out a a stock check and find they don't have they items I'd bought and paid for.
She stated that they were expecting more of the items I required in August and if I could wait that long???, they would give me a 10% discount.
I have requested a full refund.
I am at a total loss how a company can sell you soemthing it doesn't possess and not break the law.
There is obviously something seriously wrong with this company's set up and I and my friends will avoid it like the plague in future.
