I bought the digihome 19" lcd tv with dvd combi, 27 days later DVD side went faulty. Rang comet told it was probebly my dvds and i had to buy a new one to try and i will need a reciept to proove i had done this! -did this. read reviews online all had same problem! took to store at 5 weeks old. To be told i have to send it off for repair which i wasnt happy with as its a known fault on all these tv's the store had 3 of these tvs on shelf awaiting repair. TOld repair would be 1- 2 weeks but after 1 weeks i got a letter saying it was delayed for a further 2 weeks due to awaiting part. Asked for a refund or a exchange told no i had to await repair.
Contacted consumer direct advised comet that i reject the repair they told me i cant and the advice citizens advice had given me was wrong.
Rang citizens advice back told info correct and to go into store i did this after 4 hours with manager and us refusing to leave we gave it up as bad job
I contacted managing director his office replied and said basikly same as store its tough i have to wait.
On agreed collection date i went to store it still wasnt back, told it would be there tommorow again didnt turn up 3 days later it turned up at store full of scratches. store said i had to take it up with head office.
I contacted head office to be told its only cosmetic so didnt cover that!!
6 days later the dvd player stopped working again. Told i had to send it off for repair.
Sent off then decided to take to court so i sent comet a precourt action and all evidence of breaches of contract letter suddenly there ringing ME up to give me a code so store can give me refund /exchange.
Guess they didnt fancy there luck in court!
Still they wont tell me why if they know this tv has a manafacturing fault they just put it on a constent special offer so they sell more instead of recalling the lot.
Avoid comet store and even the store manager cant do refund or exchange after 28 days it has to be repaired.
Robing B*stards if u ask me!!
