After much deliberation, I chose the RSPCA endorsed rectangular dog bed in dark brown (code 870/7745) to replace my black Scottie/Cairn cross terrier's old bed. I chose this one as it was machine washable, the right size and the right colour.
I bought it on 21st April, and she seemed happy with it. On Tuesday 24th April, I was shocked to see the filling all over my kitchen floor, only a few minutes after I'd seen her lying in it quite happily. There is an enormous rip next to one of the seams and the filling had come out very quickly.
I tried taking it back to Argos, as I believe it is of an inferior quality, which should have withstood more use, (and my dog is not bored or destructive). I also believe the RSPCA should not be endorsing such a product - I dread to think what could have happened if Dotty had swallowed any of the filling.
The assistant and manager in Argos were very unhelpful, saying it was "accidental damage", and they had never had any other complaints about this bed (I wonder how many they have sold though?). I am now going to write to Argos Head Office and the RSPCA, suggesting the charity withdraw their endorsement of this product.
Having now read other reviews, it is clear that other people have had the same sort of problem with tears, rips etc, so it isn't just my dog who has done this!
