“Finally a diet system that works for me.”

Written on: 23/04/2012 by Change4betr (2 reviews written)

I'm not the average dieter because I'm a wheelchair user with severe mobility issues and this is one of the reasons I considered online dieting.
Previously I got to goal weight in the early 90s with WW, when I was more able bodied. However I was worried about dieting after having severe IBS, aggravated by the amount of veg I was eating on that diet.
I am obese, morbidly so, or maybe not so much now after 8 weeks on Tesco Diet! My disability means I can't exercise without it causing other problems so I can only rely on reducing the weight via a food plan.
I'm a type 2 diabetic for the last 7 or so years and my doctors are obviously keen for me to lose weight too. When I mentioned the TD to my nurse she had never heard of it but was pleased I had found a way of taking charge of the weight management.
The things which work for me which I hadn't been able to get going before is the fact I now have an iPad which means I can have it in the kitchen to hand when I'm checking what's in the fridge and freezer etc. The edit meal option is great as I can adjust a set meal to suit what's in the house or how I'm feeling as appetite is affected by the diabetes.
The next great tool is the Tesco shopping (I tried the Diet to Door but ended up ordering double and found it a bit tiresome having to check I didn't have more than I needed. A great tool if this could be tweaked) and I order food to be delivered to my table each week.
This incurs a charge but if you book a shop early you can get it for £3. We feel that it saves so much stress going around the shop and saves overspending on impulse buying. The best part is I have food 'in' and can choose a meal to fit the plan. Previously I would be without some items and it was a weak link in previous attempts to diet.
The mentor support is very good and theough IM chats, emails and actual phone calls, I've been supported through even the daftest mistakes, as well as having specialist advice when I needed it regarding my medical issues.
The price of the diet is good too, cheap at twice the price! I don't miss it every month and tbh the value it has for me and my health (and my well-being) is almost immeasureable.
After the 2 months I'm never hungry and really happy that I'm eating healthily. I've gone from buying size 22/24 clothes to suze 18 which is unbelievable because I am in this for the long haul, having a lot of weight to lose (5+ stones) and wasn't expecting to see tangible results for a long time.
I've lost a stone already, and am well on my way to be a smaller version of me for my elder sons's wedding next year, with the added advantage of getting slimmer along the way too.
The diet does take up time, but not as much time as if I were writing down the food on a chart. One of the things which is a niggle is that not all the foods I use are on the food database, although now there is the option to add your own foodcs with their nutritional values, but it is a bit extra work so I don't always use that.
Other than that, the diet is great, although to say diet is limiting it; there are many options to choose from, all to suit you. I look on it as. a healthy eating Plan for the long- term.
I give this a 4.5 star rating, taking off the .5 for the niggles of the Diet to the Door and the foods I have to input myself to the food database. Other than that, I envisage myself using this for the next 12 months if not longer. Thanks TD, I now have a slimmer, healthier future to embrace!
