Fast delivery and the machine works very well, glad I ignored the 1 star review. Touch wood (no pun intended) the splitter has worked for several intense hours without missing a beat. Much faster and generally safer than my maul - I say generally safer because sometimes the split logs fly forwards as they split, this could be dangerous so the logs need to be knot free to avoid this problem which is probably common to all log splitters. I didn't buy the stand as mine is the correct height when on the shed workbench. The noise levels are acceptably low and the weight is OK as it needs to be robust to withstand the hydraulic forces - I can pick it up myself without too much hassle and the 2 handed operation is safe.
Being fussy the only thing I would change would be a 2 speed ram extension to save time but this feature is probably available on more expensive models so for the cost I'm very happy - my wood supply for 2012/2013 is fully split and is seasoning well.
