I have been a regular customer of National Tyres over the years as your service has always been fantastic.
But, on this occasion, I feel I need to provide you with some feedback following my recent purchase. I purchased four new Westlake SP06 91v, 205/55 R16 tyres for my 2006 BMW 320d estate, recommended as a good budget tyre.
I have had many different brands on different cars over the years and have to say the Westlake tyres are absolutely terrible and have changed the handling characteristics to almost dangerous standards.
I have now driven through dry & wet conditions for a month and feel they do not suit such a heavy car and shouldn’t be recommended for such.
The braking distances, especially in the wet have increased dramatically and the traction control now works overtime under normal driving conditions.
The car under steers and scrubs in the dry & wet under braking cancelling out the benefits of ABS.
The budget tyres that these replaced (Barum) were far superior and none of the characteristics stated above were encountered even on worn tyres.
I feel that your branches should not be recommending the Westlake tyres for heavier more powerful vehicles as they do not suit.
I am now looking at changing these tyres with great cost to myself as I feel my car is verging on being dangerous to drive.
