I have had a Flexaccount with Nationwide for longer than I can remember and always thought they were better than most until recently... my views have dramatically changed. last year my financial situation worsened when my husband lost his job.My arranged overdraft facility was threatened to be taken away and after contacting them to explain my financial hardship a cutomer service assistant promised to call me back for a list of my outgoings but unfortunately he didn't so when my wages were paid into my account I was unable to gain access to them as they had been frozen. I was left with no money & Had a 3 mile walk to my branch(don't drive) to have the matter dealt with. They grudginly allowed me to pay the overdraft off at £20 a month but kept adding more charges thus further stretching me financially. They have frozen my wages twice since and I have again had to walk to my branch penniless to get things sorted.They are now returning direct debits unpaid even when I have funds available.I am still waiting for these charges to be refunded and despite repeated attempts by branch staff to help have still not received a refund. They have made over &1000 from me this year in bank charges but cannot even refund me £45 due to their mistake.I would advise all not to touch them with a barge pole. When you're down they'll kick you even harder.No Thanks for all the Loyalty over the years I've banked with them!
