“Bad handles, worse service”

I bought door handles (lever latches) from John Lewis for a flat refurb, and after 3 years in normal use one pair has now failed completely - the handles no longer spring up after they have been pressed down. The finish is also looking shabby. As they were broken, I took them back to the branch of John Lewis where I bought them. They agreed that door handles should last at least 5 years minimum, but refused to give me a replacement - never mind a refund - and refused to believe that I had bought them there! Completely outragous and incompetent. Best to shop elsewhere where the quality is better - and the service.
